I am looking forward to my wife and I participating in our first SCCA Solo event. We are in Sylvester and wanted to know if any of you guys had any tips for 'rookies' I see there is a novice course which looks like it's right up our alley.
A couple of questions though, is there food at the event? What about any indoor areas (we have a 7 month old). Perhaps a few of you guys (and gals) can share your first time autocross experiences.
One final note I would imagine our car should fair pretty well with the factory specifications on the Cooper S. Do you guys typically have any body damage to your car in one of these events? Don't want to give the Cooper too many war wounds in her first event!
Thank you in advance for your advice!

Welcome ! Glad you found us. Be prepared to have a blast. The next Dixie Solo event will be held in Cecil, GA at the South GA Motorsports Park (SGMP) venue on November 22nd. Registration will be online soon. The Dixie Region SCCA Solo event schedule is posted here dixiescca.com/event-schedule.html Tips for rookies can be found on the Dixie Website under the "Your First Event" page dixiescca.com/event-first.html . Plenty of good information for first timers. Your first event will be run in the Novice Class where seasoned autocrossers will be available to provide assistance where needed. Marko Horn is the Dixie Region Novice Chief who will walk with you through the course before the event and provide tips for a successful and enjoyable day. His contact information is on the website should you prefer to touch base with him in advance or he may chime in here. We generally try to have a food vendor at our events. SGMP usually opens it's snack bar and sells burgers and fries. Although it's starting to cool off you want to bring plenty of fluids to keep yourselves hydrated. There aren't any indoor areas other than the rest rooms at SGMP. Some bring their own pop up canopies for shade and fold out chairs to sit. Your Mini Cooper S will do just fine and makes a terrific Solo vehicle. There is really no damage to be expected from running a clean Solo event. If you become hooked like most of us have then you'll begin to see some accelerated wear on your tires. We think it's worth it. Look forward to seeing you there. I am looking forward to seeing you at the event. It will probably be beneficial if we talk on the phone before the event that I can answer your questions, especially in regards to the baby. Thanks... Marko

There shouldn't be any car to car contact. She'll be fine.
