Hello, Everybody I've recently been admitted to the Grad Program at UCF in Simulation Modeling and Analysis. My first project is to find a system that I could simulate and possibly improve. Thanks to you guys, the first thought that popped in my head was AUTOCROSS! I'm thinking there might be a possible way to run a bit more efficiently so that the competitors can fit in more runs. If you think this is possible, my teammates and I would like to do our project on how to make the process go a bit quicker. If interested, I'll need some general info from previous event chairs, like how some things have hindered the process, how the events might be better run, how emergencies and knocked-over cones are handled, etc. Ive somehow convinced my teammates that studying autocrosses ins a good idea, so let's take advantage if the opportunity and see if the Dixie Region can improve our already-awesome events. By the way, I should be seeing you uys for the National Tour. Andre` Jamison Motorsports www.jamisonmotorsports.com

Andre, Congratulations on grad school! The best thing you can do is bring your teammates to an event or two to participate as both drivers and workers. Be the data. BE....the data.

Trust me, that was part of my plan all along! If we decide to do this, we'll be looking at things like the time it takes for each car to grid, run, and return to grid, the time between each car starting, and several other statistical factors we might deem essential. If need be, we'll create a computer model to simulate an the process of an autocross, then manipulate the model to see if it is possible to be more efficient. If all works out, all parties will benefit. Dixie Region gets more customers, and I get a grade for going to an autocross.

That sounds really good, but you should probably collect data at a couple of events to have a larger data-set. An awesome opportunity for data collection would also be the National Tour event in March (250+ cars). I would see how the Nationals staff feels about it...
